The Raven *Values of Citizenship and Commitment*

Hello, i am going to present 2 values that are Citizenship and commitment of a story or poem of Edgar Allan Poe called The Raven. There is no sign of interaction of the values in this story or poem. The Raven is a story or a poem about a man that is obsessed with his beloved that is dead,  in this story we can see that the Man has no Citizenship because he lives in a lonely place apart of the society because he doesn’t want to interact, talk, make friends with nobody, the only person he loved was his girlfriend called Lenore that now is dead a long time ago, after the dead of his girlfriend called Lenore he became obsessed with her and came in depression and then he pass his entire live alone, with nobody to talk to. Citizenship is the position or status of being a citizen of a particular country, also Commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. The value of Citizenship is not very showed in this story or poem, because the Man is always apart from the society and with no friends or people who know or met him. Edgar Allan Poe was known cause of his work, his unique stories and poems that every time make people happy with his brilliant ideas, he always make stories and poems always build with suspense, with a thriller and a big significance for the readers like us. This story is more about suspense and thriller. From the authors point of view this story is sad. As you start the story and you continue reading it, you can find out that this man is going through something real heavy. It’s his wife’s death. Someone you love is always going to make an impact in your life positive or negative but in either form it’s going to hurt sooner or later when that person leaves your side and it hurts even more to know they are not coming back cause they are in a better place. He never let go of the memory of his dead wife, he never stop thinking that she I’ll never go away from his side, he never gave up on her memory and that is absolutely an example of commitment even though she is not with him, her memory still present and he really misses her by his side. He thought that The Raven was a celestial soul or divine soul that was caring him or trying to send a message to him, then he thought that The Raven was the soul of Lenore (His dead wife or girlfriend), because The Raven only pronounced every time one word that was (Nevermore). In this story we can see very strongly the value of Commitment, cause as you read the poem you realize how committed this man was to his beloved one, Lenore. Even so she is dead he still has the hope of her to come back, that's how strong his love towards her, cause when you are committed to someone you love, they become your partner, your main support, the one who does not judge you even with your flaws they accept you as who you are. We can see that Lenore was a great impact on the man's life, and that her death really affected the man in all the ways you can possibly imagine. He is willing to do anything to see his loved one, even if it means to go to either hell or heaven, it doesn't matter to him. This story in my personal opinion was very good worked and based on some people’s life.
